Subjective sound quality evaluation option AX-PESQ / POLQA2
AX-PESQ is based on ITU-T P.862
AX-POLQA2 is based on ITU-T P.863
Perceptual audio measurement is widely used in smart phones, VoIP networks and equipment testing to measure how people perceive sound quality. Perceptual sound quality testing is especially used for devices with limited bandwidth or bit rate. Using standard sine wave testing such as frequency response and distortion, these parameters cannot effectively test and compare the performance of different devices. Finally, only a combination of sensory and electrical audio testing can fully describe the performance of these devices.
PESQ is a perceptual voice quality measurement tool developed by OPTICOM Co., Ltd. of Germany. According to ITU-T recommendations, PESQ is specially designed for testing voice quality on low-bandwidth devices, such as mobile phones and smart phones. Appropriate test signals can achieve results similar to those of human tests, with high correlation.
POLQA2 strengthens testing to broadband voice quality and acoustic interface.
